Generative AI is also being used to draft ESG reports and process data automatically. Describing a recent project in which her team implemented the Sustainability Control Tower and its reporting system, Katemann said the main challenge was assigning the correct emission factors to procurement data, and that AI significantly simplifies that mapping work.
The payoff, according to E3-Magazin, extends beyond compliance. In procurement, suppliers can be evaluated not just on price and quality but on their carbon footprint.
